Ophthalmology
Ophthalmology is the branch of medicine that deals with the anatomy, physiology, and diseases of the eye. Ophthalmologists are medical doctors who specialize in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of eye conditions and diseases. They are trained to perform eye exams, prescribe corrective lenses, diagnose and treat eye diseases such as glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration, and perform surgical procedures such as cataract surgery, LASIK, and corneal transplants. Ophthalmology encompasses both medical and surgical aspects of eye care and plays a crucial role in maintaining overall visual health and well-being.
